The Danbury Hackerspace is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation founded in 2012.

The Danbury Hackerspace is expanding into the former Crowne Plaza Hotel at Exit 2 in Danbury and we are building a 25,000 square foot hackerspace at this location. The rooms are being converted into apartments and the facility will be called the Bright Ravens Innovation Studios.

We are building one of the largest business incubators in the region right here in Danbury, and inventors, artists, and makers will have access to 3D printers, industrial lasers, CNC routers, a machine shop, a wood shop, artists studio spaces, and much more. Over the years we’ve helped hundreds of entrepreneurs build prototypes, write business plans, launch kickstarters, and grow their companies. We’ve given artists access to professional equipment.

This is the first time we’ve asked for help in funding our 10 year-old non-profit, and we need help with fitting out the new space, purchasing equipment, and hiring student interns to help run the hackerspace.

The Danbury Hackerspace @ the Innovation Center is a non-profit makerspace and coworking facility at 158 Main Street, connected to the Danbury Library. The City of Danbury has graciously provided the space for the hackerspace and to build a community of entrepreneurs, makers, craftspeople, & artists. Over the past 10 years we have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, artists, and makers start, build, and grow their companies. What is a hackerspace? Mayor Mark wrote a blog post about hackerspaces:

“Well the best way to describe one is a place where people can congregate, exchange ideas, and make use of the technology that is there to improve on their ideas. The ideas could range from computer programming to manufacturing, digital art and electronic art to assembly and design skills.”
